Disqus Confirms Intelligent Extraterrestrial Life
Experts conclude that comment originated from Proxima b. [satire]
SEPTEMBER 7, 2016
San Francisco, CA - Disqus, the leading audience development platform, claimed today that a comment posted over Labor day weekend confirms intelligent extraterrestrial life. After performing root analysis on Tuesday to determine the origins of the comment, Disqus concluded that the comment was not posted on Earth.
Further analysis showed that the comment originated approximately 4.2 light years from Earth, the same distance as, recently discovered, Proxima b. Shortly after Disqus’ discovery, NASA scientists verified that Proxima b is the only exoplanet, at that distance from earth, capable of supporting intelligent life.
How the extraterrestrial user posted the comment and what motivated them remain unknown at this point. All attempts to contact the user have, so far, been unsuccessful. Disqus believes that inter-galactic data transmission lag is the most likely reason.
Will we establish two way communications, when will it be, and what will we learn? These questions remain, for now, unanswered. However, Disqus officials expressed excitement around the possibility of connecting new users and communities, even those that are galaxies away. Speaking to the Planetary Journal, Disqus Product Marketing Manager, Mario Paganini said:
“Disqus has always been about building communities. We welcome new users from all across the universe to join our family of communities. The opportunities for us to learn about extraterrestrial life and for them to learn from us are limitless and we are thrilled to facilitate these connections.”
